If you know anything, and I do mean anything at all, about supplements. Then you’re likely to have heard of the original version of this fat burner. It received a lot of attention and was considered one of the best.
It makes sense then, for PharmaFreak to bank on that success by making a new and improved version — with their Ripped Freak 2.0!
The original version definitely had its strengths. What with its great choice in ingredients — which supported both fat burning and appetite suppression! However, they’re aiming to take things a step further than that by introducing some pre workout elements. I’ll tell you now, that kind of thing usually doesn’t play well — or work at all, when it comes to supplements.
Whether or not Pharmafreak is able to leverage that expectation is up to how they handle the fat burner OR pre workout dilemma — which we’ll talk more about now!
Ripped Freak 2.0 Ingredients
When it comes down to it, a Supplement’s ingredients are most important — that’s a given. It’s important then, to make sure that the vetting process for these ingredients is taken seriously. You can’t just dump whatever is popular in your formula!
Ripped Freak 2.0 seems to have taken the opposite course in this case, by providing us with a long list of ingredients. Of which, I’m telling you now, is rather so-so.
They do have some good ingredients here. Things like Caffeine Anhydrous and Guarana — both of which are stimulants that can help energize you for the day and boost metabolism. However, the use of both (in this case) is a little too overzealous and will likely lead to jitters and energy crashes.
There are also unproven ingredients in this formula — Grapefruit extract, and an unnecessary helping of B Vitamins (which are good for you but are not necessarily fat burning ingredients!
Anyways, let’s go over each of these ingredients now, and show you how these might or might not work for you!
This is one of those popular “fat burning” ingredients that we see in a lot of supplements these days. It doesn’t surprise me to see it inside of the Ripped Freak 2.0. There are many who believe that a substance inside of this ingredient called bioflavonoids will promote fat loss.
The thing is, despite the ingredient’s popularity, it’s not as tried and tested as other ingredients that we see in the market. It would have definitely been preferable if they used an ingredient that was actually proven to work.
As it stands, the effects of grapefruit extract is still too much of a mystery for it to deserve to be used in formulas like this.
Sweet Orange Extract
This is a direct contrast to another ingredient called “Bitter” Orange Extract. Fortunately, this is the safer option of the two. However, there really isn’t anything about this ingredient that has been said to aid in fat loss. The only benefit of this ingredient — as it stands, is the Vitamin C content, which has been known to improve one’s overall health.
Blood Orange Extract
Blood Orange Extract is a promising ingredient, one that has been believed effective in a couple of preliminary trials. However, much like Grapefruit Extract, it would have definitely been better to use something that was 100% proven — rather than just suspected of being effective.
Guarana & Caffeine
Now, despite the fact that Guarana and Caffeine are listen under separate categories, we placed them together for their shared purpose. Both are known to be stimulative, in that, they are able to raise your energy levels (keeping you moving — thus helping you lose more weight!)
Unfortunately, whilst both are no doubt effective, it comes with a couple of side-effects that simply cannot be ignored (see our side-effect section to learn more!)
Grains of Paradise
Grains of Paradise is an ingredient that I’d call “fat burning”-hopeful. Not a very fancy term, but it’s promising nonetheless. It’s a form of spice that is closely related to ginger! It’s been known to bring out a taste that is ‘spicy’ despite its peppery form.
Now, as an ingredient, it has shown some promise when it comes to boosting one’s metabolism. However, those studies are currently in their preliminary stages. It would be easier to accept this to be the real deal upon further research. It’s not as bad as the other unproven ingredients on this list.
Still, it would have been much more preferable to bring out ingredients like Cayenne Pepper. Which IS proven to work as a great thermogenic ingredient.
This is something that we mentioned in our brief description, but it definitely needs a bit more saying. B Vitamins are known to just generally be good for you. They’re also as natural as they can get. However, there really was no point in dumping this much in here. All it did was bulk up their already bulky formula.
It would have been preferable for them to drop either another thermogenic ingredient or even something like Green Tea (for metabolic boost) or Glucomannan (for appetite suppression.)
Where to buy Ripped Freak 2.0
The Ripped Freak 2.0 costs around $49.99 per 60 servings. That price alone definitely puts it at the same level as most premium-level fat burning products! The one downside with this is that there literally are only 60 pills per container (as 1 serving = 1 capsule.)
That’s much too little and is way below our recommended number of capsules per serving for a fat burner. Which is usually at 3-4 capsules per daily serving.
Ripped Freak 2.0 Side effects
There are two ingredients in this formula that has been said to cause side-effects. Those are:
- Caffeine and Guarana: Both are stimulative in design — perfect for boosting one’s energy. However, when taken in too high of a dose these two ingredients can come back at you with side-effects. Side-effects like jitters, energy crashes, and even insomnia! This is especially true for people who are sensitive to the effects of caffeine (or do not consume caffeine regularly.)
Ripped Freak 2.0 Conclusion
There was a lot about the Ripped Freak 2.0 that needed to be considered. For one, it was delivered to us by a reputable fat burning company (PharmaFreak.) For another, it’s a remake of a very popular and prolific fat burner!
Many people had high expectations about this possibly groundbreaking fat burner. Unfortunately, expectations are not met by any actual reality. There are promising ingredients here, like caffeine and guarana, but those were used wrong. To the point of those ingredients promoting uncomfortable side-effects.
There are other ingredients in here that were all technically unproven. Things like Grains of paradise, grapefruit extract, and sweet/blood orange extract. That leaves us with the B Vitamins, which are healthy, but are most definitely not fat burning ingredients!
It’s a good try, they definitely do need some praise for trying to be innovative. However, they could have done better by putting actual fat burning ingredients in here.
In short, there’s nothing about this formula that screams fat burner. The original version is still miles ahead when it comes to quality. Neither is it powerful enough to compete with the fat burners that are currently at the top of the market.
