Fat Burning Reviews, Tips and News

How long should you diet for?

If you’re wondering how long you should maintain a certain diet, then I can only assume that this diet is unhealthy for you. A real actual diet is one that you are meant to maintain for a long time. In fact, the best way to stay healthy is to establish a nutritional diet and stick to it.

As for short-term diets, which are not meant to be maintained for a long time. How long it should last, will rely wholly on the diet that you using. There are a lot of different diets out in the internet, and a lot of them require eating different kinds of foods that might not embody all the different kinds of nutrients that you need to stay healthy. There are also some that require cuts in caloric-intake that could potentially damage your very own metabolism.

In general, this question isn’t really something that can be answered. Specific diets have specific answers, and sometimes the true answer is not something that can be pinpointed to individuals- after all, different people have different needs and diets are something that may or may not work depending on a person’s body constitution.

How to maintain a diet?

The trouble, as mentioned, with answering this question is your ability to maintain a certain diet. Certain individuals might not be able to maintain a diet longer than another- this is all dependent on what you or your body can do. If you’re unsure about the kind of things that this might be based off- your age, weight, and your levels of activity should all be considered when deciding how long you should maintain a certain diet.

If you’re looking to deprive yourself of calories in order to lose some pounds, then the amount of calories you need to cut will depend on those factors. For example, someone who is taller and naturally weighs more might need to consume more calories than someone shorter but weighs the exact amount.

If you’re unsure about how you can maintain a diet, then the best way is to first pick a diet that actually suits your needs. One of the best ways to do so is measure your BMI. This is something you can do by following a simple formula. NHS.uk describes this process as such-

“…divide your weight in kilograms (kg) by your height in metres (m), then divide the answer by your height again to get your BMI.” However, there are calculators out there than can do this for you automatically. BMI is a good way of assessing your current body constitution. Of course, this is not meant to be completely accurate, but it’s a starting point.

Once you have your BMI down, it should be a little easier for you to pick and choose a diet that would best suit your needs. If you’re still struggling, there are apps on smart devices, like the MyFitnessPal app, that can help you calculate the caloric intake you need based on all the necessary factors- including the goals that you set for yourself.

So for example, if you want to lose a certain amount of pounds per week, then the app should be able to provide the number of calories you’re going to need to limit yourself to in order to meet said goals.

One thing you are going to have to consider, is to make sure that you are setting realistic goals for yourself. There’s no reason to rush and run the risk of destroying your body, stay healthy and choose to maintain a diet that is good for you. Depriving your body from the calories that it needs is a temporary solution that will only make it difficult for you to keep weight off in the future.

How about a 1200 calorie diet?

A diet that you have probably heard of before is the 1,200 calorie diet. This is something that has become popularized in recent times. This diet may or may not work for you. In fact, if you find yourself never being satisfied with the amount you eat, then you can assume that your diet isn’t really suited for your needs.

A diet that leaves you always hungry is not a diet that you can expect to maintain for a long time. If the 1,200 calories isn’t enough for you and begins to affect your energy levels, then the best thing to do is increase the calories that you eat per day. In fact, depending on your gender, this diet might not work for you anyways.

Men are recommended to eat at least 1,500 calories per day, so the 1,200 calorie diet – which is meant more for women- would never work for them. All this would do is hurt you. This is not a diet that you are meant to keep for a long time, unless that is what your body needs.

How long should you maintain a diet for?

So we talked about diets and the general dangers of maintaining ones that isn’t very good for your health, but the question of how long you should maintain a diet has not actually been answered.

As mentioned in the very beginning, dieting is a tricky business, and no general answer can be given that would technically be both safe and effective for everyone. However, if you do want specific numbers, then try to make sure that your diet isn’t leading you to lose more than 2lbs per week. Anything more that that will just lead to the ruin of your metabolism. O

A diet, much like anything involving fitness, is something that should be made specifically for different individuals. If you are struggling with the diet that you currently have, then the best thing to do is make changes that would smoothen up the process for you.

The thing people seem to misconstrue is that diets aren’t meant to starve you. The kind of diets that promises quick results, won’t help you get any healthier in the long run. If being healthy is your goal, then you want a diet that you can maintain for a very long time, a diet that you keeps you satisfied and doesn’t drain or keep you away from the nutrients that you need in order to keep living happy and healthy.
